Fred and Susette Johnson introduced the outdoor wood burning furnace to the Northeast U.S. in 1982, when these heating systems were virtually unheard of. They started selling, promoting, and distributing these out of the ordinary wood heating units through their business Jamboree Acres. In the year 2000, they incorporated and became Outback Heating, Inc., and then Outback Heating of Virginia, Inc., in 2014. Today we are the largest distributor of Heatmor outdoor furnaces in the eastern U.S.

We are a family owned and operated business. Our eldest daughter, Patricia, is Vice President and General Manager of our company and our youngest daughter Cynthia is Treasurer and heads the accounting and billing department. Son in law Christopher Lyszaz is the sales, service, and tech manager.

In 2013, we added a lawn and garden division to our business and took on the full line of Grasshopper residential and commercial mowers. We are currently the largest and top selling Grasshopper dealer in the state of Virginia. In 2015, we added the Husqvarna mowers and hand held equipment line to our business. In 2019, we added the Spartan mower line. Our service shop can work on all makes of mowers, chainsaws, and hand held equipment.
