A beautiful front lawn is the foundation for a beautiful home. At least 75% of American adults recently polled by the National Association of Landscape Professionals agree that spending time in the yard is important.
That may be because we tend to spend so much time taking care of our lawns and making sure they look nice. The average homeowner spends four hours every week on yard maintenance. That adds up eight full days per year!
With that much time and investment, your choice of a lawnmower is no small matter. Taking the time to compare all makes and models of name brand lawn mowers may seem like a huge chore, but it’ll be worth it, in the end, to make sure you’ve made the right choice.
We’re here to make it easier for you. As Virginia’s leading Grasshopper dealer, we know our mowers. Here’s a simple breakdown of everything you need to know about their 200 series lawn mowers.
The Similarities
The 225, the 225V, and the 226V each come with pressure lubrication/filter systems, air cooling systems, breakerless ignition with a 12-volt battery, an interlock safety system, and hydrostatic transmission breaks. All 200 series lawn mowers are true zero turn mowers with high-back Ultimate Suspension Ride (USR) seating. Each can reach speeds up to nine miles-per-hour forward and six miles-per-hour in reverse with a 12-gallon fuel capacity.
The Differences
- 225: This is the introductory 200 series lawn mower from Grasshopper, with all the bells and whistles on a smaller size. It features in-frame suspension with 12cc pumps and a Kohler Command Pro, V-Twin engine. Best for efficiently navigating tight quarters.
- 225V: The 225V also features a Kohler V-Twin engine, but with a vertical crankshaft, compression parking brakes, and a Shock Impact Reduction System (SIRS) suspension. Transmission is a hydraulic Parker HT series. This one packs up easily on a trailer or garage space with its surprisingly compact build.
- 226V: Like the 225V, the 226 features a commercial grade pump and wheel motor drive systems. Comes with SIRS suspension and disc parking breaks. The big difference here is in the engine: a V-Twin BandS Commercial Turf. Like the others in the 200-series, the 226 rides smooth and lasts with little maintenance.
It’s true that 83% of Americans think that having a yard is important. But just having it isn’t enough: 90% of those with a yard say that keeping it well maintained is equally important. Get the right mower for the job to instantly improve your home’s decor with little trouble.
