For Fred and Susette Johnson, founders of Outback Heating, selling outdoor furnaces isn’t a job, it’s a passion. Since 1982, the family-run business has been selling and distributing outdoor furnaces, first in the northeastern United States and eventually, through its network of dealers, as the largest distributor of its kind in the eastern half of the U.S.
Keeping folks warm is not only Fred and Susette’s passion. It’s one they share with their family. Eldest daughter Patricia, Outback Heating’s office manager for many years, is now the company’s general manager. Youngest daughter Cynthia handles accounting and billing. Son-in-law Christopher leads the company’s sales, service and marketing efforts, and cousin Mike handles sales and Grasshopper service.
